Interview With The Vampire series on the way

Anne Rice’s novel Interview With The Vampire will have a new incarnation as a series for AMC, writes ANDREA BEATTIE

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire will have a new incarnation as a
series screening from October 2 on AMC.

Based on Anne Rice’s revolutionary gothic novel, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire was introduced by the cast and creators at San Diego Comic-Con today.

The Comic-Con crowd enjoyed the first-look trailer for the series that follows Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) and Claudia’s (Bailey Bass) epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion.

But Louis’s intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.

And thankfully, the show will play up the queer elements, particularly between Louis and Lestat.

When can I watch it?

The panelists today included executive producer Mark Johnson; writer and showrunner Rolin Jones; stars Reid, Bass, Anderson and Bogosian; and production designer Mara LePere-Schloop.

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire will debut on October 2 with the series’ first two episodes available on AMC+ that same night.
