The Candyman is back!

The Candyman is back!

Who isn’t totally in love with Jordan Peele’s films?! His brilliant mind has brought us horror gems Us and Get Out, and his latest, the Candyman is back!

Peele’s screenplay is fresh take on the blood-chilling urban legend you probably heard at a sleepover: Candyman.

Rising filmmaker Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) directs this contemporary incarnation of the horror cult classic.

A ghost story brought to life

The housing projects of the Cabrini-Green have long heard a ghost story about a killer. And this killer has a hook for a hand.

To be able to summon him, all you had to do was repeat his name five times into a mirror.

Fast forward to modern day, and the Cabrini towers have now been torn down.

In this instance, visual artist Anthony McCoy and his partner Brianna Cartwright move into a luxury loft condo there.

With Anthony’s career on the brink of stalling, an encounter with a local exposes him to the true story.

As a result, and anxious to maintain his status in the art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio.

A formidable production team

Universal Pictures presents, from Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures. Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld’s Monkeypaw Productions, in association with BRON Creative, Candyman.

Candyman is produced by Ian Cooper (Us), Rosenfeld and Peele.

The screenplay is by Peele and Rosenfeld and DaCosta. The film is based on the 1992 film Candyman, written by Bernard Rose, and the short story “The Forbidden” by Clive Barker. The film’s executive producers are David Kern, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth.

Candyman is out on August 26, 2021. Watch the trailer here.
